Frequently Asked Questions
What you need know
Why have I not heard of ECA technology before?
ECA technology was originally developed over the past 30 years in Russia and used primarily in the water disinfection industry, hospitals and surface disinfection.
It has only recently become available in the West and is proving to be a very cost effective 'green science' alternative to traditional chemicals.
Why is it better than traditional chemicals and UV, Ozone etc?
Existing chemicals are mostly classed as 'Dangerous Goods' i.e. they are toxic and therefore create problems in transportation, storage, handling and disposal and many people are wanting to move away to safer, 'greener' alternatives.
UV and Ozoned only work at point of contact and leave no residual, the advantage of Anolyte is that it has a residual effect and is made from completely natural products i.e. salt and water.
How much does an ECA system cost?
The cost of any system depends on a number of critieria e.g. volume of Anolyte to be generated, is the system a 'stand-alone' unit or integrated into a building Management system.
Does Anolyte actually kill all the pathogens mentioned?
Anolyte has been exhuastively tested at independent laboratories in a number of major countries. The results of these tests confirm that Anolyte is superior in its effectiveness than traditional disinfectants with a faster kill rate and no evidence of the micro organisms building up resistance, this is because they are physically killed rather than poisened.
Will it disinfect all types of water?
Rain, stored or foul water has to be filtered prior to treatment by the ECA system. Anolyte is VERY effective on the secondary treatment of water and ALL pre-treated water can be sterilised using ECA technology systems.
What are the advantages over traditional chemicals?
Most chemicals are produced from oil or a non-renewable resource. They are in the main expensive to produce and to use and quite often have to be post treted before safe disposal, again adding to the cost. Anolyte is generated from natural ingrediants of salt and water and leave no harmful by products and can be disposed of safely.
Can it be used with Sea Water?
No, as the mineral content of sea water varies considerably but future developments may well solve this problem. ECA Australasia systems can work with de-salinated water with no problems at all.
